This home is in Tukwila, WA and had been neglected for many years. The
logs were coated with primer and paint and had multiple coats, so
corncob
blasting was used to clean the logs, followed by buffing of the logs, and
finished with 2 Coats of
Lovitt's Natural Gold Wood Finish w/Honey Tint. We then painted
the bottom T-11 a more attractive color to blend with the logs. The decks
were restored using
Lovitt's Wood Cleaner/Brightener Kit and Finished with 2 coats of
Lovitt's Natural Gold! Like a new house! Only 50 years old!

Unfortunately for the logs, they were unable to breathe naturally resulting
in deterioration and rot development in many areas around the house, this

Above right are happy logs, fully nourished and protected.
To the left are unhappy logs, their wood grain clouded, the acrylic coating is
peeling off and the logs are beginning to dry out and check. What to do?
Off with the 100% Acrylic wood finish, not only does the acrylic finishes make
the logs look plastic, or chalky, the underlying dislike we have for these
"surface coatings" is chemically and scientifically based. Bottom line, we
feel that acrylics are not appropriate for the long term care of your logs and
cedar, period. Call us toll free to discuss our philosophies on wood care,
we care for hundreds of log and cedar homes in the Pacific Northwest and know
through experience what logs and cedar siding crave, it's Lovitt's Natural Gold
Professional Wood Finish. We saved this home from further
decay and embarrassment and removed the acrylic coating and applied

Olympia, WA

As you can see on the home above, we removed the failed finish
with Lovitt's Wood
Cleaner/Brightener and restored the logs to a new condition and finished the logs with 2 coats of
Lovitt's Natural
Gold Wood Finish back-brushed into the wood to saturation. Next, we
removed the old tattered metal roof, made repairs, and installed a new metal
roof. Some finishing touches included the painting of electrical boxes,
screen doors, and miscellaneous trim.

Another home restored with Lovitt's Wood Cleaner and
Brightener and then Stained with Lovitt's Natural Gold Wood Finish. A home
like this one needs a lot of maintenance to keep it looking this way, as you can
see there are no soffit overhangs to protect the siding from the rain.
Also, there are no trees or hills to shade the home. This means the home
will require more maintenance than a home that enjoys the aforementioned shade
cover and soffit overhangs. We recommend maintenance using
Lovitt's Wood Cleaner and
Brightener and a light coat of
Lovitt's Natural Gold Wood Finish every 3-5
years... A long term maintenance plan is essential to keep your natural
wood or log home looking great year after year but most of all, structurally
protected from weather, rot, and insect infiltration.

On this particular home, we restored the logs using Lovitt's
Wood Cleaner/Brightener, buffed the logs to perfection, then finished them
with Lovitt's Natural Gold w/Pine tint. Once the finish cured, we came back with a 1" average chink between the logs using
trapezoid backer rod and Perma-Chink™ Chinking. This customer noticed the warmth and coziness
that chinking can provide (along with preventing insect and water infiltration among
other things), we recommend chinking on most every log home design, even those "chinkless"
styles.
The logs were finished with

This home needed a lot of attention, we gave her all she
needed. We restored the logs and made various small repairs, then we
finished her with
Lovitt's Natural Gold with a Honey
Tint! Next up for attention was the roof, we restored that also using
Lovitt's Wood Restorer & Brightener as we did on the logs. The roof was
treated with P-Wood
for long term protection. The owners opted not to finish the roof with
Lovitt's Natural Gold, as they wanted the wood to gray out naturally but still
have protection, P-Wood
was the perfect product to accomplish their goals.
